Our Conductors

Eric Heidenheim

Eric Heidenheim received his Bachelor of Music Education and Bachelor of Education from Western University. He retired from the Thames Valley District School Board in 2018, after 30 years of teaching instrumental music. Eric started the band program at J.P. Robarts Elementary School and at the secondary level, Eric was a member of the Montcalm, Clarke Road, and Westminster Music Departments. The last 13 years of his career were spent conducting the wonderful bands at H.B. Beal Secondary School. Eric endeavoured to remain active as a musician during his teaching career. He has played in many community ensembles, including as a member of the trombone section in Encore The Concert Band, and The London Concert Band. For 18 years, Eric conducted the Saturday Morning Brass, a brass ensemble affiliated with the New Horizons program at Western University. Currently, he serves as conductor of Once A Quartet, a wind ensemble also affiliated with New Horizons. Eric is a member of Phi Beta Mu, the International School Band Master Fraternity and has attended conducting courses at Western University and the University of Toronto. Eric feels very fortunate and privileged to work with the excellent musicians of the London Concert Band!

Music Director

Kaeleigh Campbell

Kaeleigh Campbell received her Bachelor of Music Education and Bachelor of Education from Western University. Kaeleigh currently teaches music at Matthews Hall Independent School where she conducts a variety of bands, small ensembles and the senior choir. Kaeleigh is also the musical director for Matthews Hall's middle school productions and has conducted shows such as Annie, Seussical, Newsie and Something Rotten. She has been a performer in the London Concert Band since the late 2000’s and, in 2020, joined the ensemble's conducting team. Other highlights of her conducting experiences include leading a steel pan ensemble in Trinidad and conducting an intermediate youth choir of over 300 students at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto.

Conductor

Don taught instrumental music and band for 32 years with the Thames Valley District School Board and its predecessor, the London Board of Education. For two decades, he served as Head of the Music Department at A. B. Lucas Secondary School. During his tenure, the bands under his direction earned numerous awards and trophies at the Kiwanis Music Festival and at MusicFest regional and national festivals. They were also recognized several times for their participation in the Ontario Provincial Music Festivals.

Don recently stepped down as Adjudicator Chair for the London Kiwanis Music Festival and has retired from the festival’s board of directors. He continues to enjoy playing trumpet and conducting part-time with the London Concert Band. In addition, he is delighted to sing in the Elmwood Avenue Presbyterian Church Choir alongside his wife, Lorraine.
