Founded by conductor Martin Boundy more than 30 years ago, the London Concert Band under the baton of conductor Robert Kennedy, maintains its long tradition of performing for local charities, local retirement homes and at other public venues.

Vision

To enrich the lives of the community of London through music

Objectives

  1. Provide stimulating concerts
  2. Perform with high school and university level bands to promote them and their musical abilities
  3. Provide free concerts (3-5 per year) to retirement homes in the London area
  4. Showcase young performers from the London area.

London Concert Band establishes a cultural outlet for serious amateur musicians by sharing the members’ musical talents with the community and provides an inviting environment and friendly atmosphere for the members.

Today the band has about 50 members from all walks of life. "We have high school students up to retired people," says Kennedy. "They just have to be willing to dedicate their time and have some skill."

For the past four years London Concert Band has played concerts to raise money for the Kiwanis Kid's Care Centre at the Children's Hospital of Western Ontario. In December 2000, a group of local Kiwanis Clubs pledged a million dollars to develop the Kid's Care project, which will provide a wide range of support services to patients and their families. London Concert Band has raised more than $10,000 for the centre over the last four years.
